#data difference Why is WISEAPPRETAIL data different from our internal data?

WISEAPP and WISERETAIL data are based on statistical estimates derived from sample panels.

Differences may occur depending on panel characteristics, analysis algorithms, measurement standards, and other conditions.

#data unavailable The data is not showing

1) You may have been logged out automatically

If data that was previously visible is no longer shown, you may have been logged out. Please refresh the page and check your login status again.

For security reasons, WISEAPP・RETAIL automatically logs users out after a certain period of inactivity.

2) The selected period is not an update date

If there is no data for the selected period, please check the data update cycle and data availability period.

If the data update schedule changes, we will announce it in advance through notices.

3) The data has potential statistical errors

If the data does not meet the minimum statistical requirements, only limited indicators may be displayed.

4) There is no data available

  • WISEAPP : Apps for which data cannot be provided because they do not meet statistical requirements or are not registered on Google Play.

  • WISERETAIL : Retail brands for which data cannot be displayed because they do not meet statistical requirements, the brand cannot be clearly identified in payment records, or the actual retail brand cannot be classified by WISERETAIL.

Other cases

If none of the above applies, please contact us and we will check for you.

#Industry What is the standard for industry classification?

WISEAPP and WISERETAIL classify industries based on app usage behavior and retail brand payment behavior, respectively.

Because one focuses on digital usage behavior and the other on online/offline payment behavior, the classification systems are different.

#iOS only app What about apps that exist only on iOS?

Due to Apple’s privacy policy, it is difficult to collect iOS user data. Therefore, WISEAPP estimates iOS usage data based on Android data, OS market share, and demographic information.

If an app is not available on Android, we cannot provide data for it.

#indicators by app version Do you provide indicators by app version?

No. We do not provide indicators by app version because they cannot be measured reliably.

#specific in-app indicators Do you provide indicators for specific screens or features inside an app?

No. We do not provide metrics for specific screens or features inside an app.

Apps have many screens and features that change frequently and differently for each user, making it difficult to provide stable and reliable metrics.

#data adjustment Why is daily data adjusted when monthly data is updated?

Daily data published during an ongoing month is preliminary. After the month ends, monthly data is updated on the 4th business day of the following month, and the related daily data is recalculated and updated accordingly.

This adjustment reflects:

  • confirmation of the monthly reference population (i.e., total payment amount by Korean consumers),

  • canceled transactions, and

  • delayed transaction records received after the initial daily estimate.

Therefore, daily data shown during the month should be viewed as provisional, while the recalculated figures released with the monthly data should be regarded as the latest confirmed figures available at that time.

Data Correction Timing

#data adjustment Why does the sum of daily payment data differ from the monthly data?

WISERETAIL performs regular monthly data corrections. When monthly data is finalized, the daily data for that period is also corrected accordingly, so the corrected daily sum and the monthly data will match.

However, if you compare uncorrected daily data with finalized monthly data, differences may occur. For period-to-period comparisons, please always use the corrected data.

Uncorrected daily data should be considered provisional estimates for trend analysis only.

Data Correction Timing

#period-over-period comparison Why doesn’t the sum of daily payment counts match the monthly payment count?

For the Total Number of Payments indicator, the sum of daily data may not match the monthly data. This is because daily data and monthly data are calculated using different independent algorithms.

#payment recognition Why can’t some retail brands be separated even though multiple names appear in payment records?

WISERETAIL classifies data based on the brand names shown in payment records. However, if multiple names appear or the brand identity is unclear, they may be grouped together (e.g., Naver/Naver Pay).

#payment recognition Where is the payment counted if the user paid after searching on a portal?

The payment amount is counted toward the brand where the payment was actually completed.

For example, if a user searches on Naver or Google and then moves to the brand’s official store and makes a payment, it is counted toward that brand. However, if the payment is made within a portal’s own shopping service (e.g., Naver Smart Store), it is counted toward that platform.

#specific indicators of a retail brand Do you provide indicators for specific products or sub-categories?

No. WISERETAIL does not provide metrics for specific products or detailed categories. Since WISERETAIL only recognizes the final payment record, it is not possible to provide reliable product-level metrics.
