Data Collection Methodology
Statistical estimation through panel survey
After determining the optimal sample size based on the population of Korean smartphone users, we collect anonymized app usage data from participants who have provided consent, and then generate statistics according to demographic distributions.

The population is estimated by applying the following data.
Census by Statistics Korea (KOSTAT)
Survey on the Internet usage by National Informaion society Agency(NIA)

Data Collection and Measurement by OS
Android Smartphones : Data is collected and analyzed through official APIs, which provide information on app installation and usage behavior.
iOS Smartphones : As official APIs are unavailable, data for iOS users is estimated using demographic distributions inferred from Android data. (iOS data becomes available starting from the next week or month following an app’s release on the iOS App Store.)
Android Only App : Apps developed solely for Android without a corresponding iOS version will only be represented in Android data.
Apps preinstalled on the Android OS : If an app is preinstalled as a default system app on the Android OS (e.g., apps related to Google, Microsoft, Samsung Electronics, etc.), the data may estimate iOS app installs using demographic composition based on Android data. As a result, the number of iOS app installers may be estimated higher than the actual figure.
App Exposure Criteria
Apps are included in the dataset only if they meet the minimum monthly active user threshold (approximately 5,000 users) and are available on Google Play Store / Apple App Store. For stable data output, apps must consistently maintain over 50,000 daily users during the statistical period. If these thresholds are not met, the app may be flagged as having potential statistical errors, and certain data may not be disclosed.
Data Privacy
All data is processed in an anonymized form. No personally identifiable information is collected or utilized.
